Christine Marsiglio MW and Jim Gore Dip WSET will help you step up from the Diploma and guide you on your MW journey
We have worked together to develop Tasting Masterclasses for Master of Wine students based on feedback from more than 20% of current MW students.
Developed by experienced wine educators, these Masterclasses have a robust structure and educational merit. They provide a clear framework to develop your tasting and exam skills and are open to all MW Students.
Improve your exam technique to build stronger arguments, and better answers
Learn techniques to help them complete the MW Practical Exam in fewer years
Connect with other MW students in an intensive learning environment
Be exposed to a comprehensive set of wines in an analytical setting
We will also provide full mock exams in May (see below).
Two three-day Masterclasses annually (Jan 31 - Feb 2 and March 7, 8 and 14) for a maximum of twelve students. Taught jointly by Christine Marsiglio MW and Jim Gore DipWSET.
To take part, students will already have to have attended at least one IMW Course Day and to have practiced wine tasting note-taking at MW level.
Each day looks at different styles of questions commonly found on the MW Practical Exam using a wide range of different wine styles and qualities:
Day One - Variety and Origin
Day Two - Winemaking and Quality
Day Three - Maturity, Style, Commercial
To cover all the common questions, and varied styles of wines, students are encouraged to attend all six days of Masterclasses.
Each day we will look at twelve different wines.
Eight of the wines will be used to explore some of the common styles of questions. Using past papers as our guide, Christine and Jim will improve your exam technique and help you develop a successful approach.
Four of the wines will make up a partial mock exam.
After each day’s Masterclass, we will send you a review document which will include your marked mock exam with full written feedback to help you reflect and improve your technique.

One 12-wine blind paper (1, 2 or 3) on each day in the standard format with individual, written feedback from Christine Marsiglio MW
